A Legend and Hero

Richard Stanley Fisher

December 02, 1938 – November 11, 2023

On November 11, 2023, Richard (Dick) Stanley Fisher was peacefully called home to his Lord and Savior from his home in Bakersfield.

Born as Richard Pomeroy on December 2, 1938, to Gerene J. Deen and Mark E. Pomeroy in Hood River OR. Dick understood selflessness at a very young age.

In the Spring of 1947, Gerene met and married Carl Wesley Fisher and the family moved to Northern California. It was at that time that Dick took the Fisher name as his own and began working alongside Carl in the logging industry for many years.

In the Summer of 1981 Dick went into trucking until 2015.

Proceeded in death by his wife Sharon Townsend, his parents Gerene and Carl Fisher, and two brothers Ronnie and Dean.

Dick is survived by his four children, Renae Jean Magaña (Santiago +), Rachelle Joy Duitsman (Jack), Robin Jennine Lyons (Terry), and Jeffrey Michael Fisher, thirteen grandchildren and thirty-four great grandchildren, brother Michael Fisher, sister Carla Fisher Smith, and many nieces and nephews.

In his nearly 85 years of life, Dick touched the lives of many with his generosity and love. He asked for very little in return and was a dear friend to all who knew him. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him back.

A memorial service will be held in his honor on December 2, 2023, at Northside Community Church in Bakersfield, CA at 1:30PM.

In the realm of son and father, a bond so deep,

A symphony of love, cherished memories to keep.

Through the tapestry of life, they stand as one,

Linked by a bond that cannot be undone.

From the first breath taken, the son’s eyes meet,

The father’s gaze, strong and complete.

A beacon of guidance, a source of strength,

In every step taken, a bond of immense length.

In tender moments shared, father and son,

A foundation of trust, a bond never undone.

With every word spoken, wisdom is given,

Lessons of life, in their hearts, forever written.

Through trials and tribulations they navigate,

The son finds solace, knowing his father awaits.

In the face of adversity, they align,

The bond between them, an unbreakable sign.

In laughter and joy, their spirits entwined,

A symphony of laughter, a melody kind.

The father’s pride in his son’s every stride,

A son’s admiration, a beacon to guide.

As the son grows, his father’s shadow he’ll see,

A legacy passed down, a torch held with glee.

For the bond they share transcends time and space,

A love so powerful, it cannot be erased.

Through the passage of years, their bond evolves,

From playful moments to advice that resolves.

In the heart of a son, his father remains,

A pillar of support, through sunshine and rains.

So let this poem be a tribute, a song,

To the bond between a son and his father, strong.

For in their embrace, a legacy is born,

A bond eternal, never to be torn.
