We Need to Toughen Up — Our Parents Had It Way Worse

Let’s get straight to the point: today’s generation is soft. Plain and simple. We’ve been handed comforts and conveniences our parents and grandparents could only dream of, yet so many act like every little inconvenience is the end of the world. It’s time to quit whining and toughen the hell up.

Look back at what the early 1900s generation went through. World wars that killed millions. The Spanish Flu pandemic with no medicine to fight it. The Great Depression that crushed economies and left families starving and homeless. They faced genocides, brutal wars, no social safety nets, and still got up every damn day and fought to survive.

Today? We have smartphones, instant access to information, advanced medicine, and social programs. Our biggest threats are economic downturns, political drama, and pandemics with vaccines and treatments. Yeah, those are serious problems — but they don’t compare to dodging bullets, starving to death, or burying loved ones in mass graves.

Mental health struggles and societal pressures are real, but they don’t outweigh the literal life-and-death battles fought by previous generations. The world didn’t slow down for them. They didn’t get trigger warnings or participation trophies. They adapted, fought back, and built the world we live in now.

So here’s the deal: Stop acting like life today is the hardest it’s ever been. Stop being snowflakes. Grow some balls. Face your challenges head-on instead of hiding behind excuses. If you want to honor the strength of those who came before, start by being tougher than you think you are.

Life isn’t supposed to be easy. It’s supposed to make you stronger. So man up, quit complaining, and get to work.

Colossians 3:23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart…”

Dedicated to the hardest working man I ever knew Richard “Dick” Stanley Fisher
