FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — UPDATE
Jeffrey Michael Fisher Provides Detailed Update After Procedure-Related Paralysis; Announces Immediate Logistics, Treatment Path, and Support Needs
Bakersfield, CA — November 15, 2025 — Following the initial announcement, Jeffrey Michael Fisher issues a detailed update about the medical event that resulted in paralysis, the immediate logistics now underway, and the concrete steps being taken to pursue treatment, research access, and long-term care.
What happened
On the day of a routine medical procedure fusing together C4 C5 and C6, previously C5 C6 and C7 were fused during the procedure C3 as well needed to be fused as a result of this, complications occurred that resulted in spinal cord injury and loss of sensation. Mr. Fisher is under the care of his treating physicians and specialty consultants. Medical records and procedure summaries have been secured and are being reviewed by his care team and independent specialists to define the cause, the precise neurologic level and extent of injury, and the timelines for decision points about experimental therapies and rehabilitation.
Current medical status and medical-clearance logistics
• Mr. Fisher is medically stable and receiving ongoing inpatient care and monitoring.
• Specialty consultations (neurology, neurosurgery, spinal rehabilitation medicine, pain management, and physiatry) are scheduled and underway.
• Before any experimental treatment, protocol eligibility and medical clearances are required: imaging review (MRI/CT), electrophysiology testing, infectious disease screening, and comorbidity clearance. These tests are being prioritized.
• Insurance authorization and medical-necessity documentation are being prepared for each proposed intervention; appeals and expedited reviews will be pursued where needed.
Treatment pathway and research access
• Priority is enrollment in relevant clinical trials and experimental programs that could be appropriate for Mr. Fisher’s neurologic profile. The team is pursuing open trials, compassionate-use programs, and established centers of excellence for spinal cord injury.
• Parallel standard-of-care rehab (early mobilization, respiratory and pressure-injury prevention, spasticity/pain management, and assistive-device planning) will continue immediately.
• Any investigational therapy will proceed only after meeting trial inclusion criteria, obtaining informed consent, IRB/ethics approvals where required, and securing treating-physician sign-offs and insurer discussions.
• Home accessibility modifications (ramp, widened doors, master-level bathroom conversion, lift systems) are being scoped with contractors who specialize in accessible conversions; measurements and bids are being collected for immediate work once medically cleared.
